He was loved and cherished by many people including: his son Philip; his wife Eryleene; his daughter Heidi Bullington (Lonnie); his grandchildren, Sarah of Antioch, California and Alex of Antioch, California; his daughter-in-law Allyson Groner; his grandchildren-in-law, Parker of Clive, Iowa and Pierce of Clive, Iowa; his brother Gene Groner (Kathleen) of Independence, Missouri; and his mother Edna Madden (Sloan). He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
He had been an actor in the Springfield Little Theatre and in community plays in Parsons, Kansas; volunteer fund raiser for the Greater Ozarks Chapter of the American Red Cross; a volunteer hospice chaplain, board member and treasurer of Community Hospices of America Foundation, board member of Retired Seniors Volunteer Program and shopper for RSVP's Homebound shopper program.
