He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Henry H. Schaefer and Marcella M. Schaefer; his former wife Kathleen Schaefer; his siblings, Rev. Henry L. Schaefer (Marilyn), Charles Schaefer, David Schaefer, Jeanerette Meyer, Marcie K. Bruning (Larry) and Ruth J. Lambert; and his brother-in-law Orlan Zuberbier.
He is survived by: his mother-in-law Kathleen Norma Kelpe of Cape Girardeau; his daughters, Teresa Jo (Terri) and Melinda Joy (Lynn); his grandson Clay; his daughters, Terri Menchak (Bill) and Lynn VanVelzer; his grandchildren, Jessica Menchak, Cassandra Feldt (Jake), Devin Lampen and Clayton Lampen; his siblings, Martin Schaefer (Michelle), Marcus Schaefer (Donna), Daniel Schaefer (Lonnie), Jo Ann Zuberbier, Mary Meyer (Richard) and Lucinda Saeger (Bob); and his siblings-in-law, Betty Schaefer, Phyllis Schaefer and Ron Meyer. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
