He was predeceased by: his parents, William Benton and Blanche Dawson, Sr.; and his siblings, June Anne Hobensack and James Brady Cypert. He is survived by: his wife Karen R. Dawson; his daughters, Emily Dawson (Hugo Hurtado) and Kathryn Cobet (David); his grandsons, Tomas Hurtado, Lucas Hurtado and Ethan Cobet; and his sister Carole Cole.
