He was predeceased by: his parent Gladys Voyles Vines; his son Paul Vines; his wives, Patricia Morris Vines and Madeline Thomas Vines; his siblings, William (Margie Vines), Brannon (Gloria Vines), Robert (Norma Vines) and Jeannette Vines Robinson; his nephews, Robert Vines and David Vines; his stepdaughter Donna Plunkett; and his grandson Matthew Thomas.

He is survived by: his child Gay Vines; his siblings, Judy Conner (Jimmy) and Joseph Robinson; his nieces and nephews, Gary, Janice Vines and Thomas Vines; his stepsons, George Plunkett and John Thomas; his grandchildren, Kelley Terry, Phillip Welch, Tina Plunkett and Stephen Plunkett; his friend Carol Leach; his sister Jeanette; and his children, Ron, Madeline and Jesus.
