He was predeceased by: his wife Frieda K. Betts; and his brothers, David Betts and Bill Betts. He is survived by: his children, Brenda S. Christy (Brooks), Barbara A. Wells (Jeffrey), Robert W. "Bobby" Betts III (Lynda) and James T. "Jim" Betts (Mary); his grandchildren, Catherine "Katie", Paul, Christopher "Chris" Miller, Jaque Wells, Stephen, Eric Pyle and Josh Wiatt; his close friend Polly Ruh; his brothers, Bruce Betts (Karen) and Steve Betts (Margene); and his siblings-in-law, JoEllen and Barbara Betts.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Heifer International .
