He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Carmen Zamudio Gassert; his children, Michael D. Gassert and Julia C. Gassert; his siblings, Daniel Gassert (Alma), Tom Gassert, Dot Crumley (Peter) and Frank Gassert (Anne); his parents-in-law, Lino and Elaine Zamudio; his siblings-in-law, Chris Bowdern, Dan Zamudio (Carol), John Zamudio (Beth) and Maggie Revelle (Leonard); his parents, Daniel Gassert and Irene Gassert; and his sibling Queens.
