He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Lester and Johnnie Pemberton Lester. He is survived by: his children, Lee Lester (Tresa), John Lester (Terena), Louisa Hudson (Duane) and David Lester (Lisa); his grandchildren, Matt Lester (Courtney), Troy Lester (Lia), Stacie Tackitt (Anthony), Stephanie Mitchell (Logan), Corby James (Charity), Claire Haney (Gavin), Makenzie Lester and Clint Lester (Kirsten); his sister Cora Sell; his sister-in-law Sandra Fagan; and his niece Janice Asher. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
