He was predeceased by: his father Oscar Brown "O. B."; his wife Linda Smith (Logerman); and his siblings, Harold, Fred Smith, Evelyn Lumbo and Margaret McClanahan.

He is survived by: his children, Roger Smith (Rhonda) of Naylor, Sandy Montgomery (Mark) of Auxvasse and Susan Blackston of Auxvasse; his brother Con Smith (Joyce) of Mexico; his grandchildren, Denny Smith (Sierra Harriman) of Springfield, Daniel Smith of Naylor, Megan McAlexander (Eric) of Archie, Emily Gerke (Tyler) of Smithton and Shawn Blackston (Laura) of St. Robert; his great grandchild Charli Gerke; and his stepgreat-granddaughter Addy Cantrell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
