He was predeceased by: his parents, Geneva Holmes and Clay Holmes; his stepfather Jack Walker; his siblings, Fred Holmes, Joyce VanNortwick, Wayne Holmes, Wanda Mathews and Jean Shade; his cousin Emery Holmes; and his granddaughter Shana Hight (Scott).
He is survived by: his wife Carol; his children, Beth Carter (Bob), Alison Holmes and Steve Holmes; his granddaughter Amy Grabher (Chris); his great grandchildren, Ethan Jay and Grace Grabher of California; his granddaughter Monica Marshall (Brenden); his stepgranddaughters, Allison Twist and Jessica Connolly; his cousins, Ben Johnston, Carol Webb and John Holmes; and also, Erik and Doug. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Reavisville First Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Association in Jay Holmes' memory.
