He was predeceased by: his parents, James Elmer and Augusta Anna Laney (Kraft); his former wife Marie Ann Laney; and his brothers, Gerald and Clifford Laney.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Colvin Laney; and his children, Diana Kraft Cupp of Ft. Worth, Texas and James Richard Laney (Roxanne) of Granbury, Texas. He is also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
