He was predeceased by: his parents, William Richards and Irene Richards (Faller); his wife Betty Marie Missey; his daughter Tammy Gaynor; and his siblings, Elmer Richards, Walter Richards, Allen Richards, Eddie Richards, Herbert Richards, James "Shorty" Richards, Velma Thurman, Geraldine Ward, Shirleen Henderson, Helen and Lena Ann.
He is survived by: his son Tony Richards (Lori) of Arcadia; his grandchildren, Joseph Gaynor III (Rachel Richards) and Paula Hinson; and his close friends, Robert Trotter, Frank Reichert, Robert Campbell, Garland Riggs, Bub Winnie, Garry Farris, David Wren and Paula Risher.
