She was predeceased by: her father Ralph Noble Smith; her husbands, Howard Kern and Raymond Gaines; her daughter Kathy Gaines (Meningitis); her mother Della Smith (Palmer); and her siblings, Nadine Webb, Wanda Harness, Norma Gee, John, Verdie and Ralph Smith.
She is survived by: her brother Kenneth Smith. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
They donated to the community on a regular basis.
