He was predeceased by: his parents, James Marion Spears and Delpha Spears Kelley; his siblings, Jimmy Spears, Allen Spears, Rilda Mae Spears, Delsie Lee Spears and Linda Johnson; his daughter-in-law Becky Spears; and his granddaughter Jody.
He is survived by: his wife Virgie June Divine; his children, Dennis Ray Spears (Kerry), Virgil Glen Spears, Dixie Ann Shoptaw, Teresa Sue Miller, Della May Adair (Jeff) and Randy Joe Spears (Viviana); and his sisters, Oletta Bagby and Melba Jean Keel.
