He was predeceased by: his parents, William Knowles (Lefty) and Mildred Knowles; and his brother William Knowles. He is survived by: his wife Tricia; his children, Stephanie Davis (Rick), Leigh Vanderholt (Grant), Eric Edward Knowles (Michelle), Ian Knowles (Jessica) and Ryan Knowles (Corrina); his grandchildren, Captain Brian Davis, Erica Knowles Gittemeier (Kyle), Chase Edward Davis, Will Edward Vanderholt, Taylor Vanderholt, Ryan Kaylinn Knowles, Victoria Knowles and Mabel Knowles; his great grandchild Izzy; and his brother Jim Knowles (Annette).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Macon County Food Pantry, Macon Lions Club or Zion Lutheran Church.
