He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Bernadine (Green) and Bayard Tolliver Curnutte; his daughter Karen Anne; his brother Bayard Donald Curnutte; and his great grandchild Patrick Connor Mulcahy.
He is survived by: his wife Lila Jean Musick of Drexel; his children, Diana Swezey (John) of Drexel, Missouri, Kathy Havelka (Ben) of Louisburg, Kansas, Kristi Smalley (Dicky) of Boonville, Missouri, Tim Curnutte (Sue) of Chariton, Iowa and John Curnutte of Independence, Missouri.; his grandchildren, Tara Mulcahy (Pat), Kash Dubray (Brooke), Kyle Dubray (Erin), Tyler Swezey (Kate), Taylor Bridges (Austin), Kellen Curnutte, Devin Smalley, Ethan Curnutte and Jackson Curnutte; and his great grandchildren, Kathy, Liam, Aidan Mulcahy, Hunter, Drake, Lila Dubray, Kylee, Kiersten, Kaleb Dubray, Payten Shearer, Lilly and Isabelle Bridges.
Memorial contributions in Jim's honor can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
