He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Peters and Mayme Peters (Powell); his wife Roberta "Joan" Kleinert; his parents-in-law, Walter and Elizabeth Kleinert; his son Timothy Peters; his brother Donald Peters; and his brothers-in-law, Charles Goings, George Kleinert and John Kleinert.

He is survived by: his children, Vick Peters, Virgil Peters (Linda), Valarie Schonarth (John) and Brad Peters (Sara); his siblings, Shirley Sheridan (Dennis), Karen Goings, Susan Juaire (Barry) and Gerald Peters (Ann); and his close friends, Robin Bloch, Lisa Schuckman and Troy Hickerson. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren.
