He was predeceased by: his parents, James Nelson and Bernice Nelson (Twyman); his wife Doris Nelson; his siblings, Donald Nelson, Goldie Saathoff and Doris Sherman; and his siblings-in-law, Maedine Nelson, Rogers Saathoff and Wayne Sherman. He is also survived by numerous nieces/nephews.
