He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse F. Thomas and Betty R. Thomas; his brother Robert Douty; his nephew Jesse Paul Douty; and his great-nephew Keith Cooper.
He is survived by: his wife Marcia Scott of Adrian; his daughter Jessica Marie Smith of Butler; his grandson Abel Landon Michael of Butler; and his siblings, Dale Douty (Retta) of Butler, Diana Bennett (Jason) of Butler and Tina Hansen (Mike) of Butler. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.
