He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Banitt and Minnie Banitt (Luetke); and his siblings, Verona Friese, Clarice Flotterud, Mary Ann Burfeind and Leon Banitt.
He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Banitt of Zumbrota; his children, Dayle Banitt (Vicky) of Pine Island, Craig Banitt (Julie) of Zumbrota, Keith Banitt of Mazeppa, Cheryl Goranson (Raymond) of Zumbrota, Sheila Mehrkens (Ted) of Mazeppa and Shannon Banitt of Zumbrota; and his grandchildren, Jennifer Kramer, Jeremy Banitt, Tad Banitt, Pete Banitt, Jesse Banitt, Geraud Banitt, Nicklus Goranson, Perian Kummrow, Kyle Mehrkens, Kurt Mehrkens, Casey Mehrkens, Colby Mehrkens, Ray DeWitt and Joe Schmitz. He is also survived by 30 great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
