He was predeceased by: his parents, Cornelius Freese and Jessie Freese (De Boer); his daughter Valerie Dawn; his great grandchild Beck Cornelius Schutte; and his siblings, Viola Krull, Bernice Winters, John and Lawrence Freese.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Schaa of Worthington, MN; his children, Lisa Burnham (Glen) of Worthington, MN, Lori Schutte (Jim) of Rushmore, MN and Shane Freese (Jennifer) of Fairmont, MN; and his grandchildren, Jeani Harms (Justin Ahlers), Dawna Burkard (Rodney), Megan Bertsch (Toby), Vernon Schutte (Natasha), James Schutte Jr. (Brooke), Matthew Schutte, Cody Freese and Kaitlyn Freese. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the American Reformed Church (1720 Burlington Ave, Worthington, MN 56187). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 19th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
