He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Donald Rickers and Dorthy Thompson Rickers; his wife Pamala Rickers; his daughters, Gretchen Scheidt (Chris) and Ingrid Rickers (Melissa); his grandchildren, Mason Ennis and Millie Ennis; his stepgrandsons, Kody and Tyler Scheidt; his sisters, Margaret Hinchey (Donald) and Beth Namanny (Bryan); his uncle Russell Rickers; his father-in-law Orville Hokeness; his brother-in-law Mike Hokeness (Sheryl); and his cousins, Joe, John, Susan, Martha, Mary and Annie. He was also cherished by nieces and nephews; and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to three causes that were special to Marty: Sunset Hospice Cottage, B-Squad Dog Rescue in Brandon, S.D.; or Nobles County Historical Society.
