He was predeceased by: his wife Darlene Van Alstine; his stepparents, Frank Van Alstine (Gladys) and Mabel Keeney (Tom); and his sisters, Margaret Mela Ardron and Jane Einhorn.

He is survived by: his children, Vanessa Van Alstine (Paul Ashman) and Frank Van Alstine Jr. (Vicki Hackett); his granddaughter Catherine Van Alstine; and his siblings, Jim Van Alstine (Sharon) and Jill Henry. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Honsa Family Funeral Home (2460 Co Rd E East, White Bear Lake, MN 55110). A graveside service was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the Grandview Cemetery (19205 US-218, Austin, MN 55912).
