The memory of Eugene Smith (Winona, Minnesota), who passed away on January 27, 2025 at the age of 95, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur J. Smith and Lillian Smith (Haun); his wife Barbara; his brothers, Donald and Arthur; and his sister-in-law Joan.
He is survived by: his children, Mary Lin Wershofen (Jeff), Vickie Malay (Mark), Beckie Rolbiecki (Mike), Bobbie Gostout (Chris), Amy York (Lloyd), Patsy Yelsa (Dan Fradl) and Eric Smith (Nicki); his grandchildren, Jason, Justin (Emily), Adam Wershofen (Alison), Molly Wershofen-Stockdale (Nathan), Allison Queensland (Jack), Lucas (Hailey), Colin Malay (Alex), Matt (Heather), Danny Rolbiecki (Casey Schewe), Anna Urbick (Mark), Zach, Noah (Elizabeth), Christian Gostout, Katie Techel (Bryan), David Mahlke (Angie), Isabel, Max Yelsa, Drew, Ava and Ethan Smith; his sister Marihelen Liegel (Bob); and his brother-in-law Ted Lelwica (Marge). He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka (625 E 4th St, Winona, MN 55987). A Mass will be held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers it is Gene's wish to have memorials made to Rollingstone Community School.
