He was predeceased by: his parents, John Murphey and Genevieve Murphey (Ash); his son Todd Murphey; and his sisters, Audrey Murphey and Avis Ignaszewski.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Ahl; his children, Jay Murphey (Angie) of Winnebago and Jill Haken (Eric) of Winnebago; and his siblings, Gerald Murphey and Ruth Walls of Jonesboro, AR. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
