He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Balstad and Ione Balstad (Geldaker); his wife Alice Marie Berberich; and his brother Mark. He is survived by: his sons, Matthew (Christie) of Fosston and Luke (Katie) of Fosston; and his brother John Balstad (Sandy) of Fosston. He is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Fengestad-Solie American Legion Post.
