He was loved and cherished by many people including: his grandparents, Swedish, Norwegian, Johan and Carolina Carlson; his former wife Inez Hagen of Kindred, ND; his wife Joyce Alton; and his foster sons, Cuong Le (Hang) of Andover, MN and Truc Le (Vy) of Kent, WA. He was also cherished by his wife of 62 years, his daughters, seventeen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Gerald's special interests included WoundWalk.org, North Country Food Bank, Arbor Day Foundation, the Nature Conservancy, Doctors without Borders, Habitat for Humanity, and various Veterans' organizations.
