He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Hans and Alice Nelson (Bauchle); his wife Joanne Nelson; his brother Ronnie Nelson; his niece Kay Schmidt (Anderson); and his siblings-in-law, Norma Baumgard, Donald Baumgard, Clarence Schmitz and Ron Miller.
He is survived by: his children, Kurt Nelson (Vicki Olsen) of St. James, MN, Kirby Nelson (Kim) of Lexington, KY, Roxanne Lockard (Tim) of Russel, IA and Nikki Jorgenson (Jim) of Westbrook, MN; his grandchildren, Kaili Braa (Michael) of Eagan, MN, Emily Nelson of Lexington, KY, Jack Jorgenson (Mariah Beckmann) of Westbrook, MN and Kate Jorgenson of Vermillion, SD; his great grandchildren, Mariah and Wyatt Braa; his siblings, Rick Nelson (Janet) of Windom, MN and Mary Kay Anderson of Bingham Lake, MN; and his sister-in-law Harriet Schmitz Miller of Brewster, MN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
