He was predeceased by: his wife Vera Rud; his son Charles; his parents, Albert Hoglund and Mabel Hoglund; and his siblings, Florence Olson (Axel), Grant Hoglund, Raymond Hoglund and Willard Hoglund (Misty).

He is survived by: his daughter Sharon Madsen (Clair) of St. Cloud; and his grandchildren, John Madsen (Brenda), Jeff Madsen (Ann) and Stephanie Kohlhagen. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren, besides several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
