It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Leonard Lee Matthys of Willmar, Minnesota, who passed away on October 27, 2024, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Carvinus Matthys and Mary Matthys (Bossuyt); and his brothers, Duane Matthys (Frances) of Marshall, Minnesota, Denis Matthys (Bonnie) of Cottonwood, Minnesota and Bernard Matthys (Mary) of Apple Valley, Minnesota.
He is survived by: his wife Kay; his children, Russ Matthys (Missy) of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Rita Jorgenson (Brian) of Montevideo and Renee Barker (Jeff) of Brandon; his grandchildren, Lissa, Isaac Matthys, Mathea Jorgenson, Ryan and Reese Barker; and his siblings, Eddie Matthys (Connie) of Durango and Mary Ellen Hodapp (Ron) of Libertyville, Illinois.
A rosary was held on Friday, November 1st 2024 at 3:30 PM at the Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home (1000 19th Ave SW, Willmar, MN 56201). Visitation was held on Friday, November 1st 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A prayer was held on Friday, November 1st 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Church of St. Mary (713 12th St SW, Willmar, MN 56201). A burial was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 at 3:00 PM at the St. Clotilde Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Len's name are preferred to the following organizations: Alzheimer's Association, Friends of San Lucas, CentraCare - Gorecki Guest House.
