He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Thompson and Lucille Thompson (Atkinson); his stepfather Laurence Lysne; his children, Michael Thompson and Jennifer Thompson Isaac; his brother Bill Thompson; his stepsister Marjorie Swanson; his mother-in-law Dorothy Blagsvedt; and his brother-in-law Ron Peterson.
He is survived by: his former wife Carol Anderson; his wife Kay Blagsvedt Flaata; his daughter Laura Thompson of Las Cruces, NM; his stepson Richard Flaata of Buffalo; his son-in-law Michael Isaac; his grandchildren, Dylan, Chris, Zoe, Drew, Jade, Ben, Parker and Brooke; his great grandchildren, Oscar, Maddy, Lola, Juniper and Sydney; his father-in-law Sid Blagsvedt; his sisters-in-law, Colleen Michels, Carol Peterson and Pam Nelson; his niece Eileen Armitage; and his nephews, Dan Thompson, Brian Peterson and Mitchell Peterson.
