He is survived by: his former wife LaVonne Heining; his wife Lavonne Gast of Willmar; his daughter Iris Nieland of New London; and his siblings, Darvin Gast of Willmar and Myrtle Elsing of Willmar. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
