He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Olson and Elvina Olson (Reigstad); and his siblings, Virgil Olson, Carroll Olson and Donna VanScyoc.

He is survived by: his wife Deanna Olson; his children, Steven Olson of Asheville, NC, Roger Schaeffer of Willmar, Debra Olson of Brooklyn Park, Daniel Schaeffer of Coon Rapids, Rita Jeanne Vadner of Paynesville, Scott Olson of Loveland, CO and Robin McCormack of Willmar; and his siblings, Dennis Olson of Minnetonka and Arliss Kelly of McCall, ID.. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
