He was predeceased by: his mother Loretta Shafer; and his brother Rodney Shafer. He is survived by: his wife Mary; his daughters, Hannah Shafer (Kayla) and Sophie Shafer (Dillon); his granddaughter Savannah; his father Lee Shafer (Diane); his sisters, Dawn Marcantelli (Billy) and Jenny Kritta (Dan); and his nieces and nephews, Kyle, Alec, Karlee and Abby.

“So Sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I have worked with Steve for over 15 years from Iowa but never had the chance to meet him. I did get to know his voice really well though, as we would sort out projects and print requests together. He was a stand up guy, someone we could always count on here at Presentations, and a friendly voice. Laughed and joked over the years and his friendship will be missed. RIP Steve.”
