She was predeceased by: her parents, John Nielsen and Rose Nielsen; her sisters, Jean Urbanek and Eleanor Riedemann; her brothers-in-law, Lloyd, Dutch, Glenn, Larry, Hugh and Doug; her niece Jan Urbanek; and her nephew Dirk Riedemann.
She is survived by: her sons, Todd (Ellen) of Lakeville, MN, Brad (Beth) of Wells, MN and Scot (Jennifer) of Lakeville, MN; her grandchildren, Alex, Josh, Nick, Andrew, Emma, Jack, Ben and Matt; and her siblings, Evelyn Landbo (Harry), Harry Nielsen (Marilyn), Nancy Finbraaten, Esther Marshall, Martha Coulter (John) and John Nielsen (Nancy).
In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family requests donations in Ruth's name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Lutheran World Relief, the Wells Area Food Shelf, or charity of donor's choice.
