He was predeceased by: his parents, John Schlager and Irma Schlager (Wolff); his daughter Julie Speckman; his grandson Andrew Speckman; his parents-in-law, Basil and Ethel Poynter; and his brothers-in-law, Eddie Anderson, Tillman Michelson and David Poynter.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Schlager of Welcome; his sons, Steven Schlager (Eugene Espinosa) of Truman and Mark Schlager of Welcome; his son-in-law John Speckman of Welcome; his grandchildren, Brian Schlager and Anna Schlager; his great grandchild Blakely Schlager; his sisters, Clarine Michelson of Jackson and Alice Anderson of Jackson; and his brother-in-law Duane Poynter (Toni) of Sawyer, ND. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; and other extended family.
Memorials are preferred to the Welcome Fire Relief or the Welcome Historical Society.
