He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph, Sr. Leahy and Stella Leahy (McDonough); his former wife Julie; his grandson Darren Leahy; and his siblings, Jim Leahy and Inez Malecha.

He is survived by: his children, Kathy Flicek (Paul) of Webster, Randy Leahy of Northfield, Joe Leahy (Carol) of Northfield and Tim Leahy (Rochelle) of Hastings; his grandchildren, Ryan Flicek (Meg), Jen Barlage (Bryan), Jason Flicek (Kristina), Christopher Flicek (Erin), Cody Leahy, Ashley Otto (Jim), Joey Leahy (Kaitlin), Gabby Leahy, Luke Leahy (Amber Nasers) and Megan Charlton (Stanton); his great grandchildren, Amelia, Stella, Eleanor, Sam, Ellie, Sullivan, Ralph, Guinevere of Juliette, JJ, Olivia, Ryker and Knox; and his sisters, Eleanor Shambour (Leonard) of New Prague and Molly Smisek (Donny) of Lonsdale.
