He was predeceased by: his wife Rolene Naomi Heitkamp (Reetz); his parents, Alfred H. Heitkamp Sr. and Ruth Heitkamp (Eide); and his brother John C. Heitkamp. He is survived by: his sister Elizabeth Blood (Bill); and his sons, Bruce A. Heitkamp, Mark L. Heitkamp and Peter J. Heitkamp.
