He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Schwegel and Olivia Schwegel (Ressemann); and his siblings, Gene Schwegel, Jeanette Schwegel, Esther Langner, Susan Boisjolie and Helen Williams.
He is survived by: his wife Leah; his children, Sandra Smith, Jessica Schwegel, Lisa Schwegel, Rebecca Silbernagel, Matthew Meierhofer (Kenadie) and Cindy Gratke (Kyle); his grandchildren, Matthew Jr., Khylee, Zaelyn, Skarlet, Paisley, Lorelai, Brantley, Leighton and Kayden; and his siblings, Pauline Stein, Betty Walz (Lenny), Veronica Gill, John (Marilyn), Joe and Charlie Schwegel.
