He was predeceased by: his parents, Einar Barstad and Christine Barstad (Hegrenes); his wife Joyce Bell; and his sister June Sorenson. He is survived by: his children, Merle Barstad Jr. (Heidi) of Waseca and DeLain Draeger (Michael Castor) of Waseca; and his grandchildren, Alexander, Jacob, Aliyah Barstad, Kendra, Brittney and Kelsey Draeger.
