He was predeceased by: his parents, Malcolm Fitzsimmons and Florence Fitzsimmons; his wife Betty; his stepdaughter Jacquelyn Bjerke; and his siblings, Marion Honey, Jean West, Francis Fitzsimmons, Mary Lou Sotebeer, JoAnn Pehrson, Marjorie Root and Kathryn Fitzsimmons.
He is survived by: his children, Patricia Helming, John Fitzsimmons and Erin Fitzsimmons; his stepchildren, Debbie Schmitt, Sherrie Reese and Mike Bjerke; and his siblings, Richard Fitzsimmons, Bill Fitzsimmons, Jim Fitzsimmons, Lois Johnson and Karen O'Rourke. He is also survived by 12 children.
The family prefers donations to the Waseca VFW Post 1642.
