He was predeceased by: his parents, Mabel Cordes (Stehr) and Paul Cordes; his wife Avis Berg; his stepfather Pearlner Thompson; his sister Elaine Froyum; and his sister-in-law Grace Buhler.
He is survived by: his children, Cynthia Stabenow (Alvin) of New Ulm, MN, Scott Cordes (Jill) of Roseville, MN and John Cordes (Angie) of Wanamingo, MN; his grandchildren, Rachel Japuntich (Cameron), Shannon Wood (Henrik), Allison Cordes, Adam Cordes (Courtney), Kasey Cordes (Brian) and Nathan Cordes (Michelle); his great grandchildren, Paul, Ann Japuntich, McKenzie, Chase, Emily Cordes, Addyson and Brinley Cordes; his siblings, Audrey Cordes of Zumbrota, MN and Robert Cordes (Audrey) of Montgomery, AL; and his siblings-in-law, LouAnn Jopp (Harlan) of Clearwater, MN, Gunder Froyum of Wanamingo, MN and Floyd Buhler of Colorado Springs, CO. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church of Wanamingo or the American Parkinson's Disease Association.
