It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Rodney Dean Taatjes of Walker, Minnesota, who passed away on December 4, 2024, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Jeanette Taatjes (Grussing) and Russell Taatjes; and his brothers, Bob and Steve Taatjes. He is survived by: his children, Joel Taatjes (Shannon) and Joy Tincher; his stepchildren, Richard "Rick" Taatjes (Lynn), Kris Kelley (Jay), LeeAnn Wacholz, David French and Michelle Harvey (Chris); and his siblings, Tom Taatjes and Gail Taatjes. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

“Rodney was a reliable,available, and friendly family patriarch who we could visit announced or not. He always was doing something interesting, thinking something clever and had a smile to share. He taught us by his countenance, his example and by actually showing us all about what he had in his hands at the moment...like building, making bullets, playing with his big cats...etc. My husband Bob often said Rod was as a parent to him in the best way from the age of 12 on. So glad I knew him!!”
