He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Leo and Isabell Laura Simon (Lewis); his daughter Jennae Mitchell; and his brothers, Lawrence, John and Richard.

He is survived by: his wife Lois Ann Nelson; his children, Jody Gratz (Rob), Julie Remillong, Jackie Hollar (Harold), Jane Riese (Tim), Jim (Tricia), Janet Williams (Bill), Jerry (Jenny) and Jolene Stang (Greg); and his siblings, Raymond, Bill and Joan Wyoke. He is also survived by sister Jan Dehmer, 27 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
