He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Schmidt and Josephine Schmidt (Dorn); his wife Mildred Kukas (Millie); his daughter Christine "Kiki"; and his siblings, William and Geraldine Turnquist (Bettie Montpetit).
He is survived by: his children, Catherine "Cathy" of Maplewood and Jerome "Jerry", Jr. (Jeanne) of Wadena; and his siblings, Mary Pingley of Farmington and Fred Schmidt of Cottage Grove. He is also survived by 9 Grandchildren; 8 Great-grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren.
