He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Lavern and Pearl Frances Simmons (Babel); his former wife Josephine "Jo" Ann Nick; his siblings, Charles Simmons Jr. and Bertha Simmons Schooley; and his daughter-in-law Karen Schauer Simmons.
He is survived by: his wife Martha of Wadena; his children, Don Simmons, Jr. of Alexandria, Dave Simmons (Janel) of Andover, Diana Anderson (Doug) of Maple Grove and Dan Simmons (Teri) of Stewartville; his stepchildren, Debbie Cliff, John Munroe (Donna) of New Brighton, PA, Kevin Munroe (Nikki) of Beaver, PA and Keith Munroe (Amy) of Industry, PA; and his grandchildren, Robert Simmons, Brian Simmons, Anne Simmons Moore, Eric Simmons, Greg Simmons, Matthew Anderson, Aaron Simmons and Andrew Simmons. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
