He was predeceased by: his parents, Laszlo Szathmary and Gail Szathmary (Henderson); his son John Greenwaldt; his brothers, Kenny Szathmary and Joseph "Josie" Szathmary; and his mother-in-law Beverly Madland.
He is survived by: his wife Kristen Madland; his children, Dustin Schertler, Daniel Schertler, Samantha Szathmary and James Szathmary; and his siblings, Laszlo Szathmary, Michelle Szathmary and Christopher Szathmary.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 7th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Karvonen Funeral Home ~ Wadena (419 2nd St NE, Wadena, MN 56482). A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 7th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
