He was predeceased by: his parents, George Philip and Ella Marie Kern (Meller); his father-in-law Hemmie; and his grandchildren, Baby Angel Becker and Daniel Duncombe.
He is survived by: his wife Arlis Kern of Wadena; his children, Melissa Lawson (Dan) of Wadena, Brian Kern (Janine) of Wadena, Rebecca Wangsness (Troy) of Wadena, Jodi Becker (Randy) of Wadena and Stephany Duncombe (Dan) of Becker; and his siblings, George Kern (Irene) of Sebeka, Doris Budig (Dave) of Yankton and Sharon Schwartz (Tom) of Hutchinson. He is also survived by many other relatives and a host of friends.
