He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter T. Schmakel and Alvina Schmakel (Terwedo); his siblings, Walter W. Schmakel, Larry Schmakel, Neil Schmakel (Mary), Bertha, Marlene McPadden, Joanne Karels (Donald), Lois Winckel (Edgar) and Vera Dressel (Wallace); his parents-in-law, Thor and Pauline Torgrimson; and his siblings-in-law, Roland Torgrimson, Donna Schumacher and Thorlene Koppendrayer.
He is survived by: his wife Alyce Schmakel of Waconia; his children, Mark Schmakel of Waconia and Julie Schmakel of St. Bonifacius; his siblings, Sharon Pearson of Golden Valley, Charles Schmakel (Marlene) of Waconia, Dale Schmakel (Faith) of Bloomington and LeRoy Schmakel (Penny) of Waconia; and his sisters-in-law, Delores Schmakel of Waconia, Nancy Schmakel of Waconia and Gloria Torgrimson of Circle Pines. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
