He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Richter and Margaret Richter (Hopp); and his siblings, Raymond (Sophie), Robert (Betty), Edmund (Lorraine), James (Virginia), Donald (Margaret), Arnold, Eleanor Roggenkamp (Louie), Mary Lehmkuhl (Herbert), Jane Weber (Ervin), Veronica Behmen (Warren) and Sophie Roser (Robert).

He is survived by: his wife Judy Hahn of Frederick's Catholic Church; his children, Michelle Hughes, Brian (Michelle), Brenda Schwartz (Larry), Wendy Hardy (Chris), Otsego, Melissa Evans (David), Christy Evans (Dean), Lisa Meyers (Bert), Fargo, Matthew Wadena (Jackie Lilleodden) and Joshua (Kylie) of Eau Claire, WI; and his sister-in-law Carolyn Richter. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Monday, January 6th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. A prayer was held on Monday, January 6th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the St. Ann's Parish Hall (514 1st St SE, Wadena, MN 56482). A rosary was held on Monday, January 6th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Ann's Catholic Church (514 1st St SE, Wadena, MN 56482).
