It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Schmit of Tyler, Minnesota, born in Luverne, Minnesota, who passed away on August 2, 2020, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Schmit and Frances Schmit (Lentz); his son Vernon Schmit; and his siblings, William "Bill" Schmit and Elizabeth Schmalz.
He is survived by: his spouse Beverly Joyce Kinsey; his children, Brenda Schmit (Richard) of Windom and Gordon Schmit (Elizabeth Nixon) of Le Sueur; his grandchildren, Misty Thompson (Kevin) of North Mankato, Brooks Schmit of St. Peter and Jared Schmit (Jessica) of Lakefield; and his great grandchildren, Lauren, Jackson Thompson of North Mankato, Ava, Benjamin and McKenna Schmit of Lakefield.
